Eyelash Extensions

What are Eyelash Extensions?

Eyelash Extensions are very fine pieces of PBT (polybutylene terephthalate, a synthetic material), dipped in a miniscule amount of adhesive and placed at the root of the natural eyelash.   This can change the length, curl, diameter and volume of the natural lashes.

Do I need a patch test?

You may request a patch test if you would like, however they are not a requirement as you will not get an accurate result.   Patch testing is done by adding a few eyelash extensions to the outer corner of one eye, and waiting for 24 hours.   This will not guarantee that you will not have a reaction on, as a reaction can occur at any time, even if you have been having extensions for years!

An allergic reaction is unlikely, however, if one were to occur, you would see that the upper eyelid becomes red, puffy and irritated.   It should not affect the eyeball.   If this does happen, I will remove the remaining eyelash extensions.

When should I book infills?

Infills should be booked between day 14 and 21 from your full set appointment.

The average person has around 150-200 eyelashes per eye.   Due to the natural shedding of the eyelashes, about 5 eyelashes fall out per eye, per day.  Therefore, to book an infill, around 40% of eyelash extensions should still be present, which is why 2 - 3 weeks for an infill is the correct time.

Can Eyelash Extensions look natural?

Yes!   Natural is a HBB specialty.   By adapting all the variables of the extensions, natural, lightweight extensions are easily achieved.   It is also possible to start with natural, classic eyelashes and build in volume during your infill appointment.

How long does an appointment take?

For a full set of classic eyelash extensions, the appointment can take around 1 to 1.5 hours.

For a full set of volume eyelash extensions, the appointment can take from 1.5 to 2 hours.

Infills are based on timing, you are able to choose your timing from 1 hour, 1.25 hours or 1.5 hours.

How do I look after my eyelash extensions?

Correct aftercare consist of three main rules -

1. No oil

2. No touching

3. Keep them clean!

Oil is the biggest reason for premature fallout of eyelash extensions.   Oil can be found in make up, especially eyeliners and mascaras.   Oil is also found on your skin!   You must not touch your eyelash extensions with your hands, only a clean brush.

If you wear make up regularly, you will need to clean your eyelash extensions at the end of the day, you can do this with diluted baby shampoo and a foaming brush.
