Eyelash Lifting
What is Eyelash Lifting?
Eyelash Lifting or 'Lash Lift' is a treatment that uses liquid solutions and shaping 'shields' to turn the natural eyelashes up from the root, creating a lifted effect. The shield size is chosen based on your natural eyelash length and desired effect. It is placed on the eyelid, close to the eyelashes before an adhesive is applied to adhere the eyelashes to the shield. A lifting solution is placed on the roots of the eyelashes, then a setting solution and finally a tint. This is to keep the eyelashes in place once the shield is removed. The lash lift makes the eyelashes seem longer, opening the eyes with a natural effect.
How long will the appointment take?
The full treatment takes up to 45 minutes. If you opt out of having the tint, the treatment takes around 35 minutes.
Do I need a patch test?
Two patch tests are required for a Lash Lift, one for the Lash Lift products, and one for the tint. If you were to show signs of a reaction to the tint, the Lash Lift can still be done, without the tint.
The patch tests must be done at least 24 hours before the treatment. You must have a patch test, even if you have had one with a previous beauty therapist. This is due to the large variations of brands, ingredients used etc.
Why choose a Lash Lift?
Lash Lifting is a great alternative to eyelash extensions. You have a high chance of being able to have a Lash Lift even if you have had a reaction to Eyelash Extensions. A patch test is always required. Lash Lifts are very low maintenance, as the lift should keep for a minimum of four weeks, with repeat appointments recommended at six to eight weeks after the initial treatment.
What is the recommended aftercare?
You must not get your eyelashes wet for the first 24 hours. After the 24 hours, when they do come into contact with water, pat dry and brush back into place with a lash wand. It is also recommended to apply castor oil or a lash serum to the lashes to keep them healthy and hydrated.
In contrast to eyelash extensions, you can wear any make up you want! You can also apply strip lashes if needed, however it is recommended to apply underneath the natural eyelashes, as otherwise they are unlikely to sit in place.
